PULSED MAGNETIC THERAPY
Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy (PMFT) is a versatile piece of equipment which acts upon the natural electrical gradients in animal cells. It uses electricity to create a magnetic field, which is pulsed at specific rates to move ions in and out of cells restoring equilibrium.
The base frequency is set at 200Hz or 50Hz depending on the tissue damaged and then the pulse rates determine the effects.
Applications:
Vasodilation - To bring bloodflow into an area, to relax muscles or warm joints
Vasoconstriction - To deal with acute injury (same thermal effect as an ice pack)
Fracture healing - Stimulates peri-neural currents in bones to promote healing and encourage non-union fractures
Nerve Damage - Can be used to aid regrowth of nerves
Pain - Can be used on chronic or acute painful areas to relieve pain for up to 4 hours
